Privacy Policy

Cost to Renovate does not sell your data, does not require an account, and only collects what is needed to run the site and the optional newsletter.
What we collect
Analytics. This site uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID: G-SG87SCBHLJ) to understand how visitors use the site - which pages are viewed, how long visitors stay, and how they arrive. GA4 collects anonymized usage data including page views, session duration, device type, browser, and approximate geographic region. It does not collect names or email addresses. We have advertising storage disabled; only analytics storage is enabled.
Newsletter email. If you subscribe to our newsletter, your email address is stored by Kit (formerly ConvertKit), our email service provider. We use it solely to send the newsletter you requested. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
Cookies. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies to distinguish unique visitors and sessions. Calculator inputs may be stored in your browser's localStorage so they persist across page refreshes. We do not use advertising cookies.
Affiliate link clicks. When you click an affiliate link (such as a link to LendingTree, Thumbtack, Home Depot, or Lowe's), the third-party retailer may set their own cookies and collect data per their own privacy policy. We do not receive personal information about you from these transactions, only aggregate commission data.
What we don't do
- We do not sell your data to any third party.
- We do not share your data with advertisers.
- We never sell your personal information. If we ever add a form that connects you with a contractor or partner, we will only pass on the details you choose to submit, and only for the service you asked for.
- We do not create user accounts or behavioral profiles.
- We do not use tracking pixels beyond Google Analytics.
Third-party services
Google Analytics 4. Data is processed by Google per their privacy policy. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Kit (newsletter). Newsletter subscriptions are processed by Kit per their privacy policy.
Affiliate networks. Affiliate clicks are tracked by the relevant retailer or network (e.g., LendingTree, Thumbtack, Home Depot, Lowe's) per their respective privacy policies. We receive only commission data, not personal information.
Vercel. The site is hosted on Vercel, which may collect server logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL) for security and operations. See Vercel's privacy policy.
Your rights
If you are a California resident (CCPA/CPRA) or in the EU/UK (GDPR), you have the right to know what personal data we hold about you, request its deletion, and opt out of any sale of your personal information. We do not sell personal information.
To exercise these rights, or to request deletion of your newsletter subscription or any other data we hold, email hello@costtorenovate.com. Newsletter subscribers can also unsubscribe directly using the link in any email.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
